Dear Wildlanders,
We are excited to announce that the Wilderness 50: Big Wild Photo Exhibit will be on display at the Moscow Food Co-Op this month. Please consider joining us for the grand opening this Thursday 5:45 pm – 7:00 pm for discussion and free appetizers. The store is located at 121 E. 5th Street.
Come on out this weekend for the big 3-day Wilderness 50 celebration at the Wilderness Gateway Campground on the Lochsa River. Guest speakers, discussion groups, children’s activities, traditional-skills workshops and music by Dana Lyons will all be part of the festivities! Camping is $8 per night, per site. Help us tell the Army Corps of Engineers (ACE) that endless dredging on the lower Snake River, at the cost of millions of dollars to the American taxpayer, is unacceptable. The agency is accepting public comments on its Final Environmental Impact Statement until September 22. Read the action alert.
Earlier this week, we joined allies in filing a 60-day Notice of Intent to sue Wildlife Services over their plan to keep killing thousands of mammals and fish in the state of Idaho. Learn more about this rogue agency buried in secrecy within the Department of Agriculture.
Lastly, we are working with our ally Wilderness Watch in trying to protect imperiled bull trout and the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness from a potential expansion of the Fish Lake airstrip. Read more about this rare adfluvial population of bull trout.
Hope to see you at one of the 50th Anniversary Wilderness Act events!
