Dear Wildlanders,
As the rivers rise, we have some important updates to share with you concerning wildland issues and spring community events.
American Rivers, in conjunction with Idaho Rivers United, has announced that the Middle Fork Clearwater/Lochsa Rivers have been listed on the top-ten list of endangered rivers in America. This national call to action, highlights the continued attempt of powerful corporations to industrialize the Wild & Scenic River corridor. Join us in telling Forest Service Chief Tom Tidwell to keep megaloads out of this very special place.

Earlier this week, we joined Center for Biological Diversity and Western Watersheds Project in the filing of a Notice of Intent to potentially litigate the state of Idaho and the Idaho Fish & Game Commission for the accidental trapping/killing of Canadian lynx. We are calling on the state to develop a conservation plan that will avoid/reduce the trapping of lynx, while also acquiring an incidental take permit. Lynx are listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act.
On Wednesday April 30, we are joining Save Our Wild Salmon to co-sponsor the documentary DamNation, which takes a critical look at the dam building era of the 20th Century and the efforts to decommission dams and recover native fish and aquatic ecosystems in the 21st Century. The film starts 7 pm at the Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre, 508 S. Main Street, Moscow. Watch the trailer.
The 41st Annual Moscow Renaissance Fair is Saturday May 3 & Sunday May 4. And that means we are looking for volunteers to help us in our yummy crepes booth! Along with huckleberry crepes and fresh whipped cream, we will also be selling savory salmon crepes with homemade cucumber dill spread. Please contact our Ren. Fair Coordinator Marybell Sanchez if you can be part of our team!
Lastly, please read FOC member Scott Phillips excellent editorial in the Idaho Mountain Express and Guide, Say ‘no way’ to Idaho land exchange.
