IDFG wants more Otter trapping
Being a predator in wild country continues to be a death sentence in Idaho. This time, otters are on the block. The Idaho Dept. of Fish and Game is proposing to remove restrictions on trapping of otters in the Clearwater, main fork Salmon, and Payette rivers. Wild and scenic rivers are worth more than just otter trapping – and popular recreation areas don’t need more risk of trapping pets and children.
You can comment until this Friday, December 10th. Please follow the link below to the IDFG website to leave your comment.
Additionally, you can contact your local commissioner to let them know what you think.
Wolves (& Lynx and Grizzlies)
Idaho’s brazen legislative attack on wolves is now officially headed to court.
FOC and nine of our allies filed a lawsuit today challenging Idaho’s extreme wolf-trapping rules, which facilitate the slaughter of up to 90% of Idaho’s gray wolf population. The lawsuit contends that continued and expanded wolf trapping and snaring will injure and kill non-target grizzly bears and Canada lynx, which are federally protected species. We will also be asking the court to halt all wolf trapping in grizzly bear habitat until the merits of the case can be decided.
