We are happy to announce that the Nez Perce Tribe, Idaho Rivers United and the Forest Service, along with attorneys from Advocates for the West, have reached a settlement that prohibits megaloads from traveling through the Wild & Scenic Middle Fork Clearwater and Lochsa River corridor!
According to Idaho Rivers United Executive Director Kevin Lewis, “These rivers anchor cathedral-like forests that inspire awe, reflection and reverence. They are recreational Edens for fishermen, campers, hikers, hunters, bicyclists, history buffs, whitewater kayakers and rafters. Massive loads of industrial equipment do not belong here.” Read the full news release.
Friends of the Clearwater would also like to acknowledge all the individuals and groups from around the region, and beyond, that have been part of this campaign over the last 7-years!
