Dear Wildlanders,
Spring is in the air and that means FOC is busy with educational programming and you’re invited!
This Thursday April 2 we will be at the Iron Horse Restaurant in downtown Coeur d’Alene, Idaho to give a presentation about the federal agency USDA Wildlife Services. The program is from 12-1pm and is part of the Kootenai Environmental Alliance‘s Lunch & Learn program.
On Friday April 3 the Palouse Environmental Sustainability Coalition is sponsoring a screening of the documentary Wrenched at the Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre, which is located at 508 S. Main Street in Moscow. The film starts at 7pm and captures the essence of Edward Abbey and his unrelenting influence on eco-warriors and the modern day environmental movement.
On Monday April 6 we are teaming up with the Palouse-Great Old Broads for Wilderness for An Evening with Author George Wuerthner: Why Wilderness and parks are still the best mechanisms for protecting ecosystems and biodiversity. The event is from 7-9pm in the Great Room of the 1912 Center, which is located at 412 East Third Street in Moscow. Learn more about the new book, Protecting the Wild.
On Saturday April 18 FOC will have an outreach booth in East City Park for the 19th Annual Moscow Hemp Festival in Moscow, Idaho and a booth in Riverfront Park for the Earth Day Spokane Festival in Spokane, Washington. Stop by and pick up some free educational material if you are at either place.
On Saturday & Sunday May 2/3 FOC and the Palouse-group Sierra Club will have a yummy crepes booth in the food vendor section of the 42nd Annual Moscow Renaissance Fair. We will be selling smoked salmon crepes and fresh huckleberry crepes all weekend long in East City Park, Moscow. If you would like to volunteer for a shift in our crepes booth please call 208-882-9755. All proceeds benefit wildland programming.
Lastly, check out our Wild Clearwater Country Radio Show Archive if you want to listen to our weekly program in the comfort of your home. A big thanks to FOC member Tom Peterson for making it all possible. And thank you KRFP Radio Free Moscow for hosting us each week.
Hope to see you out and about,
Brett Haverstick
