Greetings North Idaho Sierra Club Friends, Did you know that nearly 20% of your electricity comes from one of the dirtiest coal plants in the nation? We can change this but we need your help! Please join us to learn more about how you can help us build a clean energy future.
When: Monday, May 4th, 7-8 pm
Where: (1912 Center, Fisk Room, Moscow)
Right now Avista is conducting its 20-year planning process, and with your help, we can quit dirty coal forever. Coal-fired electricity generation is the single largest source of CO2 pollution in the United States and a major driver of climate change. Avista owns 15% of the Colstrip power plant, located in Montana, which burns over 10 million tons of coal per year. This massive polluting coal plant is the second largest west of the Mississippi River and the 8th largest source of carbon dioxide emissions in the United States. It’s nasty business, and Idaho can do better.
Please join us for appetizers and a discussion of how you can help Idaho quit coal in favor of climate solutions. Contact Tim Hatten, Executive Committee, Idaho Chapter of the Sierra Club (208) 310-6397, or email hattentim@hotmail.com.
