Preserving, Protecting and Defending the Forests, Waterways and Wildlife in the wild heart of north central Idaho.
Since 1987, Friends of the Clearwater has been protecting public wildlands through grassroots organizing, education, advocacy, and when necessary, litigation. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Moscow, Idaho.
Majestic forests are a defining character of the Greater Clearwater Country. The diversity of habitats, free-flowing rivers and streams, and opportunities to enjoy majestic scenery and quiet recreation on forests on public lands are values citizens highly cherish.

Recovering Endangered Species
There are seven threatened and endangered species native to the Wild Clearwater. FOC advocates for the full recovery of Idaho's rarest wildlife and full enforcement of the Endangered Species Act.
The Clearwater basin contains 1.5 million acres of unprotected wilderness, knows as “roadless areas”. We believe each of these irreplaceable areas should be legislatively protected as wilderness.
